Upper Playground In Association With FIFTY24SF Gallery Is Pleased To Announce "Cracker Got Snapped by the Pops"

Australian artist Anthony Lister will deliver a new series of paintings in an exhibit entitled, “Cracker Got Snapped by the Pops” at FIFTY24SF Gallery. Using nostalgic childhood characters and pop icons, Lister imposes the juxtaposition of these images in seemingly mismatched, harsh surroundings, exposing the ills of street life, addiction and poverty. While his use of soft hues, watercolor and simple pencil-drawn lines are not overpowering to the observer, the overt cynicism of mainstream culture, particularly corporate media bombardment, communicates the artist’s message. Lister now resides in New York, and has gained prestige showing works internationally and winning awards such as the Prometheus Art Award and the Metro 5 Art Award.
