GLENN BARR hits downunder! Brian Ewing Gets Lucky with 13th Annual Warped Tour
Jun 21

June 18 was the launch of Is it Art an on-line global community art gallery website promoting the belief that everyone can be creative, and to raise awareness of Homepagism - where homepages are Art.

As its founder I believe that many people have the ability to be creative but feel they do not have what it takes to be artistic because of a number of reasons: they either lack self-confidence, their fear of criticism, they find the art establishment too intimating, and/or the lack of promotional opportunities to showcase their work.

I acknowledge there are numerous on-line art galleries on the web promoting artists works, but nothing as yet, to compare to Is It Art. Is It Art has been created not only to promote and give a platform for creative talents, but also to provide artists an opportunity to become part of a new initiative in e-commerce, whereby the virtual space or square their work is exhibited in will also to be auctioned to the highest bidder, allowing the artist to keep all the profits from the sale of their square, which in some cases, will be more than the sale of their work.

Another exiting aspect to Is It Art is the concept of Homepagism – where homepages are Art. I believe there are countless homepages on the web that are good enough to be viewed as a piece of art and exhibited in an art gallery. Homepagism can be created with any combination of digital imagery and/or text on a Homepage. I propose and invite the collective creativity of the internet community in constructing a mosaic of their work on Is It Art’s homepage, which will be viewed in a world wide traveling art exhibition and published in a book documenting this project.

I realize the first few months will be slow in publicizing the site but hope word of mouth will give it ‘thumbs up’. I also would appreciate any comments regarding the site’s interface and if you encounter any problems in posting your work. I am excited and look forward to Is It Art’s growth as a work of art and your comments.
