BLK/MRKT GALLERY
NEW PAINTINGS
July 15th - August 19th, 2006

BLK/MRKT Gallery is proud to present a two-person show featuring new paintings by Seattle’s Robert Hardgrave and San Francisco’s Casey O’Connell. In addition to non-collaborative new paintings they will be creating a reflective site-specific installation that is not to be missed.
Both O’Connell and Hardgrave’s processes and their paintings are in a sense completely opposite, yet they share a fascination with symbolism and ritual; each of them deliberately encodes their private experiences into their painting. Following different paths and speaking in different tongues, they have each found a way to express and transcend private terrors through the creation of art whose dark, edgy beauty represents a reconciliation with the past and faith in the future.
