Panel discussion in association with Own-It, Intellectual Property Advice for
Creative Businesses…
The Internet offers endless possibilities to form communities, look for clients and customers, exchange information and share ideas and images. Many professional illustrators promote their work via their own websites or Web02 sites such as YouTube, MySpace or Bebo. During this panel discussion 3 leading industry experts will discuss aspects of promoting your work and developing new business ideas from the endless opportunities on the Web. Such as how illustrators can make money and sell their work online without loosing the advantages of being part of an online community.
Confirmed panellists are:
Chris Knight, Concrete Hermit
Chris will speak about his beginnings on the web and how he developed his business from an online shop to an offline gallery exhibiting illustrators’ work. www.concretehermit.com
The Illustrated Ape
Against all odds, the team behind the infamous Illustrated Ape Magazine developed the publication, which features illustrators’ and animators’ work, from an online forum where people could upload their work for everyone to see (and download?) for free. How did they develop their magazine at a time when the trend was to publish online rather than print. And how do they work with illustrators? Has their attitude changed from their humble beginnings? www.theillustratedape.com
Robert Lands, Lawyer, Finers Stephens Innocent
Robert specialises in intellectual property and related media work. He advises a great number of brands, entertainment, art and fashion industry clients and has a particular interest in convergence (of traditionally separate industries such as film and publishing in relation to the delivery of electronic content). Robert is a voting member of BAFTA and the Brits and sits on the Advisory Board of Braziers International Artists Workshop. www.fsilaw.com
