‘WE DON’T NEED FAKE’ is a new project set-up by paper pioneer and friend of Speakerdog, Shin Tanaka, to promote the idea of stopping all the copying and stepping up to design from your own hearts and minds.  Seven paper toys have been designed so far to spread the message so check out the site, download your favourite and display with pride!

The first issue of Computer Arts Projects for the year is on the shelves now and is full to bursting with tips and trend forecasts for 2009, including words and wisdom from Matt Mattus, Airside, Gavin Strange and many more. It also includes a trend forecast or two from Ben the Illustrator and a tutorial on creating botanical illustrations and pattern-like illustrations like the one shown above!

The new issue of Computer Arts Magazine (number 157) is out today and features a tutorial by Ben the Illustrator on creating masks and masking effects in Adobe Illustrator, working through the processes used to create this deer illustration.

Editorial piece for ‘Waitrose FOOD Illustrated’ magazine, accompanying an article about the wonders of an alcohol-free Christmas!

The TO Project is looking for artists to participate in a great exhibition in 2009! ‘TO‘ is an art and a social project, organised by Jules Bay (aka Cansei, urban artist and Art curator in Lima / Peru) and Jérome Castro (aka Hellofreaks, graphic designer and illustrator in Paris / France). It gathers an art exhibition and a donation programme.

Artists and Designers from all over the world are invited to join the project by submitting a postcard design. 150 selected designs will be printed out to be part of the exhibition and also sold in art and book stores. The money gathered from the sale of the postcards will be given to Un Techo Por Mi Pais, a social organization in Peru, helping the victims of the earthquake to build new houses

A not-for-profit exploration into the colours that shape our Christmas. Frustrated at the plethora of Christmas reds, whites and greens those pesky designers at Raw Design Studio are exploring what colours people really associate with their Christmas.

Help them to identify the real Christmas colour spectrum by suggesting your own colour and its personal meaning. Abstract, funny or literal – the choice is yours. They’ll be collating and uploading the best ideas as they go along with the aim of producing a Christmas by Colour poster as well as individual v-cards.

A fantastic Cubeecraft paper model of Family Guy’s Stewie Griffin appeared at the Tate Britain in London this week, as an alleged last minute entry to the legendary annual art event the Turner Prize.

It’s not often I show personal or political work, but with the upcoming Presidential election I ‘m super inspired by the idea of ‘Hope’ and greatly in support of Barack Obama and the Democratic party, this one’s for you all!

Artism, an independant organisation, are currently looking for artists to get involved in a very special project to raise money for The National Autistic Society.

Artism would like artists to create a piece of work for a book they are planning, each piece using just black, white and one other colour.  The extra colours are specified by Artism themselves, as different colours have different effects on people with autism.
